Ayurveda Above the Arabian Sea

Rockholm at the Light House Beach is one of the long-standing addresses of Kovalam, a small hotel perched on a rocky headland right above Lighthouse Beach, with the town's red-and-white lighthouse just next door. With only about two dozen rooms, it combines the atmosphere of a personal seaside hotel with structured Ayurveda programmes and daily yoga.

Location

The hotel stands on Light House Road at the southern end of Kovalam, looking straight out over the Arabian Sea. The beach and its seafront promenade with cafés and small shops are right below the hotel, and the hotel has its own beach access. Trivandrum International Airport is approximately 16 km away, a drive of 30 to 40 minutes, and return transfers are included in the Ayurveda packages.

Accommodation

Almost all rooms face the sea. Categories include Deluxe Ocean View and Deluxe Beach View rooms, Superior and Premium Ocean View rooms, the Ocean View Luxury Suite and a Penthouse with ocean view at the top of the building. Rooms are kept simple and uncluttered, so that the view of the ocean remains the main feature.

Ayurveda Treatments

Rockholm offers three main programme types: Panchakarma, rejuvenation therapy and body purification, booked as packages of 7, 14, 21 or 28 nights. Treatments are prescribed by the resident Ayurvedic physicians after an initial consultation, and the programme includes scheduled yoga sessions with experienced teachers. During the cure guests receive full board with Ayurvedic vegetarian meals, adapted to the therapy. A Russian-speaking interpreter can be arranged for consultations on request.
