Six Senses Vana

A Forest Retreat at the Foot of the Himalayas

Six Senses Vana is a dedicated wellness retreat on the edge of Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. It first opened as Vana in 2014 and has been part of Six Senses since 2023. Unlike the coastal Ayurveda resorts of Kerala, Vana sits in a cool, green landscape at the foot of the Himalayas, where Ayurveda is combined with Tibetan medicine, yoga and modern wellness methods.

Location

The retreat occupies 21 acres of sal forest, gardens and mango orchards on the Mussoorie road. Dehradun airport is approximately 35 km away, about 1.5 hours by car, and return transfers from there are included. Guests flying into Delhi can take a short domestic flight to Dehradun or travel by road in roughly five hours. The spiritual towns of Rishikesh and Haridwar are within about an hour and a half.

Accommodation

Around 80 rooms, suites and private casas are set in low, quiet pavilions designed by the architects Esteva i Esteva. Categories range from Garden and Forest Rooms to Bodhi, Forest and Esteva Suites, two- and three-bedroom Casas and the Vana Suite, with views over the forest, gardens or orchard.

Ayurveda Treatments

Every stay starts with a wellness consultation and ends with a departure consultation for stays of five nights or more. The Foundation programme (from 3 nights) includes one private treatment per night; intent-based programmes for sleep, detox, yoga or Tibetan healing (from 5 nights) average two treatments per night. The Ayurveda and weight-management programmes require at least 14 nights, and a classical Panchakarma course at least 21 nights, with an average of three treatments per night. Yoga, meditation, cooking lessons, fitness sessions and talks are part of the daily schedule, and all meals – breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner – are included. Clothing for use around the retreat is provided.
