Your journey starts in the afternoon with registration and a welcome at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Mumbai. You are then taken to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, a UNESCO World Heritage station, to board the Maharajas' Express. Settle into your cabin, enjoy dinner on board and travel overnight to Udaipur.
After breakfast on board, arrive in Udaipur, the city of lakes. Enjoy a boat ride on Lake Pichola and visit the City Palace with its Crystal Gallery. Later explore the lanes of the old city by tuk-tuk. Return to the train for dinner as it continues overnight to Jodhpur.
Morning visit to the Mandore Gardens with the cenotaphs of the Marwar rulers, followed by the Umaid Bhawan Palace museum. In the afternoon drive up to Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest forts of Rajasthan, towering over the blue city. Dinner is served at an exclusive venue before the train leaves overnight for Bikaner.
For those who wish, an optional visit to the Karni Mata temple at Deshnok, famous for its rats. Visit Lalgarh Palace and the carved havelis of the old city, then Junagarh Fort, one of the few forts of Rajasthan never conquered. As the sun sets, drive out to the sand dunes for a barbecue dinner with Rajasthani folk music and dance. Overnight journey to Jaipur.
Arrive in the Pink City and visit Amber Fort on its hilltop overlooking Maota Lake. Continue to the City Palace, still home to the royal family of Jaipur, and the Albert Hall Museum. In the evening enjoy dinner at the Rambagh Palace, the former residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur. The train departs overnight for Sawai Madhopur.
Early morning game drive in Ranthambore National Park, one of the best places in India to see the tiger in the wild. After brunch on board the train continues to Fatehpur Sikri, the red sandstone city built by Emperor Akbar as his capital. In the evening enjoy an "Indian Evening" on board with dinner.
